On the 08/30/2017 the two-days event „MOPO-Run” organized by the Hamburg company Morgenpost took place. The MOPO-Run is an exceptional, annual event where multiple companies from Hamburg compete against each other in a tough race (2.052 Teams and 10.260 runners). To earn honor every single team, staffed with 5 highly motivated participants, needs to complete 25 kilometers in total.
Of course, the Jungheinrich AG as a traditional company from Hamburg, also started in this competitive race. 27 JH-teams, which were composed of several other JIGs, colleagues from diverse departments and hierarchies, tried to cross the finish line as fast as possible.
Shortly before the race had started, Dr. Hues (CFO) gave some introductional & motivational words to all runners and quoted the Olympic spirit: „The most important thing […] is not winning but taking part“. Additional to this, almost 100 JH-supporters were on site motivating and cheering loudly.
In the end, all teams of Jungheinrich managed to cover a distance of 675 kilometers (27 teams). Every single runner pushed him-/herself to the limits trying to conquer one´s weaker self and for sure to outrun as many runners of the other companies as possible – especially of STILL :).
The event was finished with a Jungheinrich internal victory ceremony conducted by Dr. Hues handing over the individual certificates. Our team (Financial Services) managed to reach the 40th place of the whole line up (of that day) and the 1st place in the Jungheinrich internal ranking by crossing the finish line after 1:52:49. Having got this positive message, it was even easier to recover from the race, to enjoy the BBQ, some cold drinks and to make use of the great chance to chat and network with colleagues of various areas.
I am looking forward to starting again next year…
