During my first assignment abroad, I joined the PROFISHOP team in Hamburg. This area is in charge of Jungheinrich’s e-commerce presence. I was really looking forward to this experience, which represented a double challenge for me, working in an international environment, and discovering a new field of expertise.
The welcoming atmosphere in the company allowed me to adjust easily. It was also very nice and fulfilling to work in a young team, full of energy and passion.
My first day was filled with meetings and introductions with the purpose of understanding the company and the people. It was also a good starting point to get the basic knowledge and skills, and to create a network that could support my project.
The 3 months in Hamburg were full of challenges and enriching experiences. Besides the language barriers I experienced at first; I increased my knowledge of e-commerce. I discovered a new culture, and I learned more on how Germans do business. Moreover, I enjoyed organizing Russian-German workshops with my colleagues in order to understand each other better.
Being a part of the Jungheinrich International Graduate Program gave me the opportunity to work abroad, and to learn new things that you can only understand when working in an international environment. My advice for future JIGs is not to be afraid of changes, and to take risks that could open new doors in the future.
