During our second week of training in the headquarters, our trainers Bryan and Cameron decided to put our learning into action by becoming entrepreneurs for a day. The challenge was to raise as much money as possible for the long-term charity partner of Jungheinrich, Action Medeor. It was all going to be us, we were to take charge and execute the plan ourselves. We split ourselves into two groups, one to take responsibility for all field-related tasks and the other one, to tap on all the social media resources available.
We had to use our creativity, teamwork and interpersonal skills to achieve our goal. We launched a Facebook, twitter and LinkedIn campaign so that people will donate through Leetchi, a successful donations-based crowdfunding platform. We also contacted all our local HR departments worldwide to raise awareness among our colleagues to collaborate for the cause, and we even walked the streets of Hamburg with money pots to collect donations from locals and tourists.
It was not easy, we had to step out of our comfort zones, reach out to strangers for help. We needed to sell the idea of helping out for charity. There were positive and negative results, but both contributed to our growth as a person and as a group.
Donations poured in from all over, Singapore, Russia, China, France, Germany etc. It was an international team with an international network. We collected over 2000€ for our case at the end of the day. We were so proud of our achievement. Not forgetting those who helped us, we made a video to thank all our contributors worldwide.
